Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Aubrey Modiba has discussed whether Orlando Pirates are capable of challenging his side for the DSTV Premiership title this season.
Modiba was speaking to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in the current edition of IDiski Times newspaper (out for free at Shoprite stores on Gauteng).
Sundowns went into the World Cup break in first spot with 28 points from 12 games, while are only Pirates in fifth place with 19 points from 13 matches.
The Buccaneers are also four points behind second-placed Richards Bay but clinched the MTN 8 title, having beaten Sundowns impressively in the semi-final.
When asked if he thinks the Soweto giants can challenge for the league title, the Bafana Bafana international said they can, adding that not just Pirates but several clubs have a chance and up their game against the Masandawana.

“They are great team and let’s not forget they beat us 3-0 in the MTN 8 but every team not just Pirates want to beat us and to be there,” he told iDiski Times.
“We are all competing for one thing which is the league and some teams when they play us, obviously they are already motivated.
“They have nothing to lose and sometimes it is difficult for us to pack those teams. So not only Pirates but every team in the PSL.
“Some have brought in new players, new coaches so it’s always a challenge. There are no easy games, all the games are difficult and as Sundowns, we want to win every game.”
