Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi has addressed his relationship with club President Shawn Mkhize after calling a press conference on Wednesday to clarify his future.
Mnisi, speaking at the OR Tambo Premier Hotel said he’s been crucified by the media without any evidence and stood firm that he is not suspended, there’s no pending disciplinary committee hearing and that all accusations laid against him are unjustified.
In the press release handed to members of the media he addressed the release of John Maduka and hiring of Khabo Zondo, which he said was done with the consent of Mkhize, not behind her back, he stated he offered to retain Given Mashikinya with a one-year extension, contrary to recent media reports that he was released without the knowledge of the President.
He also opened up on Victor Letsoalo, Ndumiso Mabena and Marlon Heugh allegations before hitting back at super fan Mama Joy who said on social media that he should be sacked.
In summary, Mnisi stated he feels he has been unfairly criticised by those who stated he’s ‘sinking’ the club and inadvertently called for more support in the media from the club President, who has so far remained coy on the allegations of his suspension – before stating that he still holds a ‘cordial’ relationship with her.
“The relationship will always remain cordial, I don’t know what the reason was behind that [not protecting me], I don’t know and I’m not going to speculate on that until I return from my special leave, I can’t answer that,” he said on Wednesday morning.
“But at the moment the relationship remains cordial, she remains the president and he remains the CEO of Royal AM. I don’t know what went wrong, what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong – I have not been suspended.
“It needs a person to stand up to say ‘he’s not been suspended’ that’s all, so I don’t know [what has gone wrong] but as far as I’m concerned I’m fine with the President of the team.”
Mnisi stated that after all the drama that has unfolded and the silence from within the club to back him, he has decided to put himself on special leave until he is ‘healed’ from the humiliation and scars that he and his family has endured over the past month.
