Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi admits it ‘won’t be the same’ without Rulani Mokwena available in the technical area when they face Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League clash on Saturday.
Mokwena is suspended for the matchup against the Red Devils after being sent off during their historic 1-0 victory in Cairo last month.
While Mngqithi conceded he will still have input on the crucial Group A encounter, he waxed lyrical about the importance of his co-coach and his presence within the successfully assembled technical team that took charge after Pitso Mosimane’s departure to the African Champions.
“We are one team here, we work together, we have common goals and common ambitions,” he said in the pre-match press conference held at Chloorkop on Thursday morning.
“When one of us is not there it’s not the same, it can never be the same, we would have loved to have everyone together but probably with modern technology and everything we’ll be able to still have the same conversations we have and find solutions to the problems together.
“He will still be part of us in one way or the other, we just hope he can be of assistance maybe to the analysts and everyone else around because it will be very important to also have his input in the game, he’s a very important member of our technical team that’s for sure.”
Masandawana host the Club of the Century on Saturday afternoon at FNB Stadium at 15h00.
