South Africa picked up both a win and a defeat in their opening two T20 Women’s World Cup matches against the West Indies and England respectively.

After kicking off in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, the World Cup has already delivered some mouthwatering ties.

Indi’s rivalry with Pakistan saw the women in blue come out six wicket victors after being upset themselves by New Zealand.

In turn, Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in their opener while Bangladesh got a 16-run win over Scotland.

The Proteas were dominant in their first game as they chased down West Indies’ target of 119 in just under 18 overs — and without losing a single wicket.

On Monday, though, things did not go as smooth sailing — with England becoming the first side to win back-to-back games in this edition of the tournament.

Sophie Ecclestone was the star of the show as she took 2/15 in her four overs to reduce South Africa to just 124/4 in their 20 overs.

In the run chase, Nat Sciver-Brunt was unbeaten on 48 as the English overcame the Proteas to pick up a seven-wicket, final over victory.

Australia will take on New Zealand on Tuesday before South Africa face Scotland in Wednesday’s action.
