Minnie Dlamini sues MacG and Sol for millions

In April 2025, podcasters MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho and Sol Phenduka made some allegedly offensive remarks about Minnie Dlamini following her split from Dr Brian Monaisa.

These comments led to significant backlash, with many accusing them of misogyny and demanding they be held accountable.

Although MacG issued an apology in May 2025, Minnie Dlamini has chosen to take legal action against the Podcast & Chill duo. She is seeking millions in damages.

In April 2025, MacG made controversial comments regarding Minnie Dlamini’s break-up with Dr Brian Monaisa. The podcast host made unsavoury comments regarding the television personality’s hygiene and her ability to maintain relationships.

These remarks ignited significant backlash, with many accusing the podcast host of misogyny. Groups like Women For Change and notable figures such as Deputy Minister Mmapaseka Steve Lestike demanded MacG be accountable for his comments.

In response to the uproar, MacG issued a public apology in May 2025. Furthermore, he extended an invitation to Minnie Dlamini to join his podcast for a discussion.

The podcast host said the following:

I want to apologise, first and foremost to all the female chillers, and women in general SA I might have offended with that comment. That was not the intention. We never say things to offend people. I want to extend an invite to Minnie Dlamini to the show. You are more than welcome to come. This thing started on the podcast, let’s end it on the podcast. She said some things, I said some things. Let’s squash it once and for all.

Dlamini, however, declined, labelling the apology insufficient. She went on to state that the comments MacG made were indicative of the show’s ongoing pattern of misogynistic content.

Minnie Dlamini’s sues the podcast duo for millions

Minnie Dlamini has initiated a R2.5 million lawsuit against MacG and Sol in the Equality Court. The television personality claims the podcast duo engaged in hate speech, unfair discrimination, and gender-based harassment.

She contends that their comments have undermined her dignity and violated her human constitutional rights, which appears to be a frequent occurrence on the podcast.

In her case, Dlamini highlights previous episodes from 2022 where MacG allegedly accused her of cheating and made degrading comparisons to reality star Zodwa Wabantu.

This pattern of remarks, she argues, has contributed to a hostile environment that she can no longer tolerate. Dlamini highlights that her lawsuit goes beyond her and is about t safeguarding the dignity of women in the media.

The public weighs in on the lawsuit

The lawsuit that emerged on 3 August 2025 has attracted considerable attention from the public.

Reactions are divided: some people rally behind Dlamini’s fight against misogyny, while others defend MacG, arguing the lawsuit is merely an overreaction or a means to get money.

This case seems to highlight an issue regarding the unregulated nature of the podcast industry.

What do you think about Minnie Dlamini’s decision to sue?
