Minister Gayton McKenzie Announces 19 Lucky Fans to Support Bafana Bafana Against South Korea

The countdown to Bafana Bafana’s crucial World Cup clash in Monterrey has taken an exciting turn, as the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture has officially confirmed the 19 lucky winners of the “Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fan Competition” .

Following the initiative’s successful launch and overwhelming public response, Minister Gayton McKenzie and Deputy Minister Peace Mabe finalized the selection process on Wednesday . The winning supporters, who achieved the highest scores in the competition, will represent their respective PSL clubs on the global stage when Bafana Bafana faces South Korea on 25 June 2026.

The selected fans represent a wide cross-section of South African football clubs. The list includes Thulani Ngcobo (Kaizer Chiefs), Nishai Kooverjee (Orlando Pirates), Thando Ntshumeni (Mamelodi Sundowns), and Moratuwa Adeline Dibakwane (Polokwane City FC), among others. Four wildcard entriesvRory Petzer, Emilio Hartogh, Daniel du Preez, and Zolani Stemela were also included to ensure passionate supporters without club affiliations had an opportunity .

Notably, no entries were received from Kruger United FC . The Ministry congratulated all winners, who will now be contacted directly regarding travel arrangements.

This expansion of the fan programme follows a partnership with Cell C, Old School, HONOR, and Betway, allowing even more South Africans to fill the stands in Mexico . Minister McKenzie previously emphasized the initiative’s goal to ensure Mexico hears Mzansi’s passionate support .
