TS Sporting coach Benson Mhlongo says there is lots to learn after his side’s loss to Swallows in the Nedbank Cup.
Sporting were knocked out from the competition after the Dube Birds came back from a goal down to beat them 2-1 at Dobsonville stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Mhlongo who had been appointed as the new head coach of the club last month, says it was not that disappointing not to pick up a win—insisting it will help them to fix going forward.
“Maybe the boys, I can’t cry, although still strength and speed we need to be decisive and there’s something to work on, I know now what to do going forward,” Mhlongo said after the match.
“They overloaded our full-backs, our wingers didn’t come back and help our full-backs, and they punished us, and they got two goals.
“So strength and the pitch for my boys was heavy, so there’s a lot to learn from this game, which my boys now know how hard they must work to reach the level where the PSL teams are.
“I think first half it was 50/50, I also got three chances, we didn’t make use of it. Maybe I’ve got something to work on. Before, I was blank, I didn’t know do I have now I know what do I have, I know what to do.”
The 41-year-old Mhlongo gave a first start at the club to his former teammate, Rooi Mahamutsa. The former Orlando Pirates stalwart is 40.
