New AmaZulu signing Gabadinho Mhango has set his sights on bringing silverware to the club after leaving Orlando Pirates.

Usuthu secured the signing of the Malawi international ahead of the 2022/23 season after a tumultuous spell at the Buccaneers which saw him win the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award and then languish on the sidelines for most of his final season at the club.

Despite only playing 219 minutes of club football over the past year, he managed to keep up his impressive form at international level, scoring six goals in his last five games which naturally attracted the interest of several suitors. But the ambitious KZN outfit secured his services alongside what is six new signings last week, with two more incoming, according to President Sandile Zungu.

Mhango, who won the South African top-flight and the Telkom Knockout Cup with the now-defunct Bidvest Wits, feels has has what it takes to help his new club secure trophies.

“I’m very excited to join the Usuthu team, I can’t wait to start a new challenge and then meet new players, new team, new jersey,” Mhango told the club’s media department.

“I want to win trophies as a player and grow as a player and I want to help the team to achieve the goals and to win trophies, that is what we looking for as a player and the club. So my goal as a player is to help the club achieve trophies, that’s my goal.”

Mhango scored 23 goals and registered four assists in four assists in 71 appearances for the Soweto giants over his three-year spell since his arrival from the Students.
