Meeting users where they are: Zeroa’s 1st activation day in Heuwelkroon Park

Frank Kachigumba moved to Greyton from Malawi, and he knows how important it is to stay connected to people back home.

On Sunday, 20 September 2026, he was one of the Zeroa agents at Heuwelkroon Park, helping people in the area understand how the Zeroa platform works and how they can use it to send and receive money across borders.

There was music, coffee, kids playing football and people stopping by to ask questions, scan QR codes and try Zeroa for themselves.

Greyton has a sizeable Malawian community, so the need is easy to understand. For many people living there, sending money home is not an occasional task. It’s part of everyday life.

That made Heuwelkroon Park a natural place for Zeroa to start meeting users face-to-face.

Throughout the day, people stopped by to ask questions, scan the QR codes, and get started on Zeroa, with agents on hand to walk them through the platform.

And the agents weren’t just there to hand out flyers. They’d been trained to explain how Zeroa works, answer questions and help new users get set up.

Frank already knows the community he’s speaking to. He understands the need and can explain Zeroa face-to-face in a way a digital ad never could.

He shared: “I’m good at communicating with people, so being a Zeroa agent is the best way for me to introduce it to people who are in Greyton and surrounding areas.”

That face-to-face element matters. Moving money is personal, and people are far more likely to try something new when they can ask questions, see how it works and hear about it from someone they already know.

For Zeroa, trust isn’t only about what the platform can do. It’s also about who’s there to explain it.

Remittances may be the reason someone first hears about Zeroa, but they’re only one part of the platform. Zeroa also brings together currency exchange, cross-border payments, digital assets and settlement in one place.

Someone may first use Zeroa to send money home, then later return to the same platform to move money between currencies or use other financial services, without switching providers.

The Greyton event is the first of more in-person activations Zeroa is planning around South Africa.

The idea is to grow through people: train local agents, help them introduce Zeroa in their own communities, and put the platform in front of people who have an immediate use for it.

When someone is trying a new way to move money, the questions are usually practical: what will it cost, how long will it take, and will the money arrive? Having someone there to answer those questions can make all the difference.

Greyton was the first step. For Zeroa, the bigger plan is to keep going: more agents, more communities, and more people seeing how the platform works for themselves.

For Frank, it starts much closer to home: “I want to introduce it to people who are in Greyton so they mustn’t miss the platform.”
