Sipho Mbule has revealed why he opted to join Mamelodi Sundowns in arguably the most high-profile transfer in the off-season so far.

The 24-year-old joined Masandawana from SuperSport United on Friday after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

Mbule was also linked with Kaizer Chiefs but he explained he opted to move to Chloorkop because he wants to add more silverware to his tally after winning two MTN8 trophies during his stint at Matsatsantsa.

“I think the move to Sundowns, it’s like Sundowns has been dominated for over the years and they have a lot of good players and they are competing at the highest level,” he told Sundowns TV.

“One thing about Sundowns is also, I was playing CAF with SuperSport but we didn’t qualify for the next season. I played the final with SuperSport but I felt like I can do more with Sundowns, that’s why I joined Sundowns because I want to play at the highest level and I want to win trophies.

“It [winning trophies] is a nice thing, it’s a nice feeling, it’s every player’s dream, an achievement that you can look up to. I’ve won two at SuperSport, I won two MTN8 and I lost the CAF Confederation Cup final.

“That’s why I came to Sundowns to add to my tally, from two to maybe more.”

Mbule also revealed that he is excited to joining a squad with a lot of talented players and Yellow Nation fans can expect to see the old Sipho from his high days at SuperSport.

“I’m looking forward to playing with everyone,” he continued.

“They are the best players, and I’m looking forward to playing with the best players. What I’m bringing into Sundowns is the talent that they saw at SuperSport, the Sipho that they know, the Sipho that they saw.

“I think the Sipho that they know will do well at Sundowns because it’s a team that is playing football as well. They have a lot of technically good players and I think I’m technically good as well.

Finally, he also explained where his nickname ‘The Master Chef’ is coming from.

“I think the name ‘master chef’ involves everything, but most especially on the pitch. I play midfield, that’s where I’m cooking,” he added.
