“Maybe I might play”, vows Kobola as injury woes hit Baroka

“Maybe I might play as well,” these were the words of Baroka coach Vincent Kobola as he cut a frustrated figure with injury woes deepening in his side.

Luciano Van Heerden became the latest player to sustain an injury during their 2-1 win over Platinum City Rovers in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash on Tuesday at the Global Stadium.

The injury woes have left Kobola with lots of frustration to such an extent that he is thinking of coming out of retirement to play.

Van Heerden had started the game as the replacement for the injured Phumulani Ntshangase in midfield.

Three weeks ago, Kobola had described Ntshangase as one of the spines of the team as he keeps the team’s midfield intact.

The former Maritzburg United defender went on to state they go back to the drawing board to look for a perfect replacement for Van Heerden and Ntshangase before going into their next game.

KOBOLA ON BAROKA INJURIES FRUSTRATIONS…

“It is stressing me out. Remember, we lost Ntshangase, and now we are losing Luciano Van Heerden,” he told journalists in a post-match interview.

“Now, I have to see at training who can fill that position which is the most important position in the team. That is why I went to fetch Ntshangase, and now he is injured, then we had Van Heerden as the replacement, and now he is injured also.

“To be honest, I really don’t know. Maybe I might play as well.”

Currently, Baroka are sitting in the seventh spot with 10 points in seven games, five points behind log leaders AmaTuks.

Bakgaga will play their next game against the in-form Hungry Lions on Saturday, 15 October, at Sivos Training Centre Stadium. The kick-off is set for 15:30.

Reflecting on their upcoming game against Lions, he said: “Obviously, is not going to be an easy game as we will be playing away. Hungry Lions are on fire. I saw a couple of their games, and they are playing very well.

“But we are also going there to compete because each and every game is important.”
