Mawelele invites guests to listen to his album
The album explores themes of heartbreak, a release of toxic love, and relinquishing oneself to love once again. The listening session reflected the intimacy of love. The red interior design, low lights and intimate stage setting spoke to the authenticity of the album’s creation.
The singer spoke about the inspirations behind some of the songs played at the listening session, including his feature with Nomfundo Mohon Phakade. Speaking about their feature, he acknowledged how amazing a collaboration it was.
“Nomfundo is the most humble person that I know. I asked her to get on the song with me, and she delivered her best, and she killed it,” he complimented.
The song is a declaration of love and commitment, and a celebration of a beautiful union.
The first track on the album, It Is What It Is, is about letting go and accepting the situation for what it is.
“I’m a lover boy by nature, and with this song, it was the first time I had to accept a situation for what it is. That’s how I wrote this song. I was accepting that we may be in love, but we are too toxic for each other,” he said.

When speaking to True Love, the artist said that, as much as he is a Zulu R&B artist, he is still a versatile artist at the end of the day. Thus showcasing his ability to move back and forth between English-centric R&B songs and Zulu R&B songs.
“I’m a versatile artist, and I try to show that in my music, and as much as I’m doing Zulu R&B, I also want to show people my other side,” he shared.
