Masuku Stuns His Former Side Pirates With Late Equaliser For Royal AM

Orlando Pirates missed the chance to move four points clear of SuperSport United after a late Menzi Masuku goal in a 1-1 draw with Royal AM at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach Jose Riveiro made several changes to the starting eleven which included 17-year-old Relebohile Ratomo, who’s starred in their DStv Diski Challenge squad since arriving from the School of Excellence.
And it was the teenager who sparked the only goal of the game when he forced an own goal from veteran midfielder Elias Pelembe when his effort from just outside the areas was deflected past Mlondi Mpoto.

It proved to be a goal deserved from the home side who created a host of opportunities against John Maduka’s outfit, with Deon Hotto guilty of spurning a glorious chance in the opening half that looked easier to score than to miss.
And they went on to rue their missed opportunities when former Buccaneer Masuku netted a stoppage-time equaliser that ended their six-match winning streak in the league.
Pirates will now be looking to end a five-match losing streak in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs with the upcoming Nedbank Cup semi-final on Saturday at the FNB Stadium.
