  • The toddler vanished between 02:00 and 06:00 on Saturday, with a window found open in the room where she had been sleeping.
  • Authorities and the local community are desperately searching for the child, who was last seen wearing a pink jersey and black tights.

Police in Tinmyne have launched an extensive search operation and opened cases of kidnapping and housebreaking following the disappearance of a two-year-old girl.

Omphile Sethole vanished from her home in Ga-Mabuela village in the early hours of Saturday, 2 May 2026.

According to reports, the child’s 52-year-old grandmother last saw her at approximately 02:00 when they briefly woke up before returning to bed.

However, by 06:00, the grandmother discovered that the toddler was missing and a window in the bedroom had been forced open.

Despite an immediate search by family members and neighbours, Omphile could not be found. At the time of her disappearance, she was dressed in a pink jersey and black tights.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has since deployed a task team to locate the girl and identify the unknown intruder.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Moshe Mashaba on 082 319 9448, the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111, or via the MySAPS app. Police investigations remain ongoing.
