Mashamaite Hails New Chiefs Signing

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain and defender Tefu Mashamaite has hailed the signing of Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa at his former side, saying he is a great addition to the club.

Mthethwa joined Amakhosi last month from Stellenbosch FC on a three year deal, making him Chiefs’ ninth signing this season. He has featured twice for Amakhosi since his arrival.

Mashamaite spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 123 of the newspaper and shared his thoughts on the midfielder, saying he is an Ox fan and he feels the 29-year-old is the kind of player the club needs because he plays fearlessly.

“I’m a big fan of Ox,” Mashamaite told iDiski Times.

“I mean that guy is one of the most complete box-to-box midfielders in South Africa in my opinion.

“I watched the first leg of the semi-final against Pirates. They [Stellenbosch] were one man down and Ox was there defending. In the defensive box, he was covering. When the ball was played to the lone striker Ox was there supporting.

“These are the type of players that Chiefs need right now: someone who plays with heart, someone who goes into situations that are difficult, you know when people are shying away.

“I feel like Ox is the type of player who’s going to put everything out there, so it’s going to be a major boost”
