Marumo Gallants have announced their will take some of their upcoming home games to Bloemfontein, to “engage with their growing support base in Free State”.

Gallants are currently rooted at the bottom of the log but have done well in the CAF Confederations Cup, winning their first two games.

There have been rumours that Gallants are not happy with the support they’re getting in Limpopo and are pondering a move to Bloemfontein.

The club has now announced they will host some of their outstanding home matches in the 2022/23 season in the City of Roses.

“As part of growing Marumo Gallants supporters base, the club will host some of its matches in the Bloemfontein for the 2022/23 season,” the club said via a statement.

“The last 16 Nedbank Cup against Mamelodi Sundowns scheduled for the 2nd March 2023 and the DStv League game against TS Galaxy on the 5th March 2023 will be played at the Toyota Stadium respectively.

“The Mangaung Stadium is one of the club’s three approved home grounds.

“The team is expected to arrive in Mangaung on Tuesday next week on their way back from Algeria. Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will be playing against USM Alger in Algeria for the Confed Cup Group stages this Sunday.”

Chairman, Abram Sello added: We are excited to engage with our supporters in the Free State. Our supporter base is growing therefore it’s important that we show appreciation to them.”

Gallants are the second Premier Soccer League club looking to grow their footprint in Bloemfontein after Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) recently moved to Bloemfontein and even changed their kit colours to green.

It is understood that TTM’s move to Free State has upset people at Gallants, who had already started connecting with the Bloemfontein Celtic Supporters Club in an attempt to perhaps revive the fallen the giant.

Bloem Celtic, one of South Africa’s oldest clubs, disappeared from the South African football landscape after their PSL status was sold to Royal AM ahead of the 2021/22 season.
