Marumo Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka is unfazed by Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their DStv Premiership clash on Sunday.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will welcome Amakhosi at Royal Bafokeng on 11 September, with the kick-off set for 15:00. The fixture was initially scheduled to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, but the Limpopo club decided otherwise.
The hope and optimism that followed in the pre-season under the leadership of coach Romain Folz has evaporated during a chastening start to the new campaign.
Marumo began last weekend rooted at the bottom of the PSL table but jumped to 14th place after a 1-all draw against Swallows FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Now, the side will attempt to register their first win of the season at the expense of the Glamour Boys, who also played a goalless draw with AmaZulu at FNB Stadium.
“It might not look like a simple question to answer. But if you talk Chiefs, you talk the name. And that should also sink into the players to say it’s the same game and we are in the same level [same league], with the same quality of players Kaizer Chiefs have,” Mdaka told the media.
“So, is just that you look at it in terms of the name itself, but that doesn’t matter. Not even looking at how they are playing at the moment. But with the kind of players that we have, honestly, we are able to match any other team we play against.
“There is no need to say we feared, it is just that we expect a match where there will be a lot of fans, and that is also motivation on its own to the players. You enjoy your game more when you play in front of a huge fan base. That It’s a bonus for us.”
