After reports in Cameroon announced Orlando Pirates had signed a deal with Coton Sport for striker Souaibou Marou, his agent Mike Makaab now questioned whether it will go through.
The 22-year-old forward, who was part of Cameroon’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was reported to be on his way to the Buccaneers after a letter of agreement was confirming Pirates were ready to transfer his fee.
However, a confidential letter from Pirates to Coton Sport, which discussed the details of the deal, with Pirates ready to transfer $200,000 (R3.5 million) to the Cameroonian side who also had a 15% sell-on fee percentage, has been making the rounds on social media.
According to the football agent Mike Makaab the deal might no longer happen after the information were leaked.
“I can tell you that that statement that was released was released prematurely because the deal hasn’t been concluded and we’re very annoyed,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

“And I know that Orlando Pirates is very annoyed because that’s not the way the chairman operates.
“A source within the club or someone connected to a source within Coton Sport has released the details of the deal and that’s not how Orlando Pirates work and that’s not how we work as a professional agency.
“The deal hasn’t been done, I can assure you and the chances are that the deal won’t be done, based on the fact that it was released in a very unprofessional manner.
“So we’re not sure where we go from here.”
Makaab also stated that he would talk to Pirates chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza on Tuesday to discuss the way forward.
“I will be engaging with the chairman tomorrow (Tuesday),” he briefly added.
