Maritzburg To Strengthen Maduka’s Squad

Maritzburg United look set to bolster their squad for new head coach John Maduka ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

The Team of choice recently appointed the former Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM coach John Maduka after parting ways with Ernst Midderndorp.

United finished 13th on the log in the previous campaign and subsequently released seven players including Lucky Baloyi.

With Maduka having worked with Baloyi in the days of ‘Siwelele’ the club called him back and he has started the pre-season with the team already and hopes of landing a new contract.

Given Mashikinya who was with Royal AM under Maduka has also joined United after his contract was not renewed by Royal AM despite playing a vital role in ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ qualifying for CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, Isaac Masia, the former Black Leopards defender, has also been seen around United’s training grounds and is highly likely to join the team after the club released the likes of Clayton Daniels and Nazir Allie.

The KZN-based side has lured also the former Golden Arrows man Siboniso Conco and Baroka captain Bonginkosi Makume – who was priced out of a move to AmaZulu.
