Fadlu Davids’ Maritzburg United are set to release Given Mashikinya, Lucky Baloyi and Lelethu Skelem, iDiski Times has learnt.
Just a few weeks of confirming the appointment of the former Orlando Pirates co-head coach, the Team of Choice is understood to have released the three players.
Mashikinya joined the KwaZulu-Natal side at the beginning of the season from Royal AM on a free transfer. It comes as a surprise to see the 31-year-old being released by the club as he played most of the games for them.

Skelem who was part of Judas Mosiamedi’s swap deal with Stellenbosch FC but has also been shown the door. The Cape Town-born player didn’t play much this season under the leadership of John Maduka.
Lucky Baloyi was once in the list of players that were set to exit the club but he was recalled few weeks later. According to our source, Baloyi has also let go by the team, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise as he hasn’t played much this season.
With Davids the new man, it looks like he wants to build something new at Maritzburg.
The former Lokomotiv Moscow assistant coach will look to rebuild his side and survive relegation, as they sitting 16th on the log, with just 11 points from 13 games.
Maritzburg face TS Galaxy when the DStv Premiership returns after the FIFA World Cup break on 30 December.
