Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has admitted he hasn’t given it much thought yet as to who he will appoint as the club’s new coach.
Kadodia said he will start to consider the issue of the coach sometime next week, as he has been involved in a few meetings with his existing staff.
The Team of Choice, who suffered relegation from the DStv Premiership via the PSL play-offs, are without a head coach after Kadodia parted ways with Fadlu Davids along with his technical team.
Davids has since been appointed as assistant coach of Raja Club Athletic in Morocco, reuniting with former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnabauer for the third time.
“Seriously, I haven’t done anything around the coach and that sort. I need to basically get my hands on the bicycle and start that approach of the coach,” said Kadodia to iDiski Times.
Kadodia also confirmed to this publication that he rafted retrenchment letters to all non-playing staff following the relegation to align himself with Motsepe Foundation Championship grants, as his club will receive a lot less than in the DStv Premiership.
Other than Davids having left along with his technical team, the club has also lost several players already, with King Ndlovu, Renaldo Leaner, Travis Graham, Wayde Jooste, Siboniso Conco, Friday Samu and Jose Ali Meza all deciding to leave the club.
Kadodia might also see the departure of Rowan Human and Karim Kimvuidi, as he confirmed that he has received offers both locally and internationally for the players.
Genino Palace has also been linked with a move back to the top-flight with Stellenbosch already submitting an opening bid for his services.
Maritzburg were in the top flight for 15 years and only finished in the top eight three times they in those years, while reaching one cup final, losing the 2017/18 Nedbank Cup final 1-0 to Free State Stars under Davids.
