Mariah Carey has made her long-awaited return with Here for It All, her sixteenth studio album. The record, released on Friday, arrives seven years after her 2018 project Caution.

MARIAH CAREY’S NEW SONGS

The 11-track album features fresh collaborations, including Anderson .Paak on Play This Song and gospel icons, according to Billboard.

The Clark Sisters on Jesus I Do. Carey also brought Shenseea and Kehlani on board for Sugar Sweet, a single that resonated strongly with fans worldwide.

MARIAH CAREY ON THE BILLBOARD

Her lead single, Type Dangerous, has already proven historic. It became her 50th Billboard Hot 100 hit and marked her first No. 1 on Adult R&B Airplay in nearly two decades.

The song also won Best R&B at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, where Carey received the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

MARIAH CAREY ON NAMING THE ALBUM

In an interview with Gayle King, Carey explained the thought process behind naming the album after its closing track, according to USA Today.

“The last song on the album I decided first,” she said. “I was like, ‘The last song is going to be Here for It All. And I’m going to make it the title track.’

It’s just something that feels good to me, and I didn’t want people to miss it.”

TYPE DANGEROUS

Mariah Carey’s mix of gospel, R&B, and contemporary sounds echoes the crossover success of African artists.

Local radio stations have already added Type Dangerous to playlists, ensuring the singer’s powerful vocals reach listeners in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.

HERE FOR IT ALL

Mariah Carey also teased fans with a preview of In Your Feelings during an Apple Music conversation with SZA in New York, though the track did not appear on the final album.

Here for It All continues Mariah Carey’s legendary career and reaffirms her place in modern R&B. South African fans can stream the album now across all major platforms.
