Cape Town City and Lebogang Manyama have reached an agreement for a sensational return to the club after his exit from Kaizer Chiefs.
Manyama, 31, was part of the debut season for the Citizens in the DStv Premiership after they acquired the status of Mpumalanga Black Aces in the 2016/17 season.
And it proved to be one of the seasons of his life as he captained the side to a third-place finish before winning the PSL Footballer of the Season award and a switch to Superlig side Konyaspor.
However, his move to Europe was short-lived as he made just 10 appearances before joining Chiefs on a free transfer in August 2018 where he again, failed to reach the heights that made him one of the most sought-after talents in South African football.
iDiski Times has reliably been informed that City has agreed to sign Manyama on a one-year contract but with the player well short of match fitness, it will be a while before he features in the first team under head coach Eric Tinkler and it’s likely to be their last business of the current window.
However, the technical team is in agreement that his experience could be vital as he adds another dimension to the youthful squad and boosts their depth ahead of their maiden CAF Champions League campaign in the upcoming 2022/23 season.
During his sole season with City, Manyama scored 14 goals and registered six assists in 37 games across all competitions, ironically under Tinkler too.
