How to help report child rape or sexual offence
There is a rising number of child sexual offence or raping cases reported in South Africa. These acts are mostly done by people whom are close or known by the victims.
There are several ways in which you can lay a hand in stopping and reporting such crimes.
If you have been raped, sexually assaulted or witnessed a raping incident, you can report this to the police. It is your choice whether to report, but if you do not report then your case will not be investigated or prosecuted.

Police are not allowed to refuse to investigate a raping case if you report it. However, if there is too little evidence after an investigation by the police, a prosecutor may decide not to prosecute your case.
There is no time limit for reporting a rape case, while other sexual offences have a 20-year time limit.
