KwaZulu-Natal: At 07H07 Sunday morning, Netcare 911 responded to an assault at the Masenenge Informal Settlement in Margate on the KZN South Coast.
Reports indicated that an unknown adult male of the informal settlement had been accused of murder by the community.
Medics assessed the scene and found that the patient has sustained critical injuries after being assaulted by metal pipes, bricks and rocks.
As per members of the public on the scene, it was alleged that an attempt was made to set the man on fire, however, this was unsuccessful.
While on the scene, the crowd began to become even more violent, threatening emergency personnel so with the assistance of the South African Police Services, the patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to another location where an advanced life support paramedic could start treating the patient.
Once stabilised, the man was rushed through to the hospital for further care.
Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities who were on the scene.
