Former Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila sent an emotional letter to the club’s chairman Siviwe Mpengesi.
The former Baroka FC football administrator was appointed as the Chilli Boys head coach in September 2022 after Daine Klate was shown the door.
Mammila took the opportunity with both hands and became the first ever Chippa United coach to win four matches in a row in the club’s history. Unfortunately, things didn’t go accordingly as he won only two games in the 11 matches that followed.
After a poor run of results, Mammila was removed as a head coach and was replaced by Kurt Lenjties who’s not new also in the club.
The experienced football administrator sent a touching message to Chilli Boys chairman and in the same letter he announced his retirement from coaching.
I will like to take this opportunity to thank you personally for identifying my Coaching talent and also for appointing me as Head Coach of your team Chippa United Football Club without being advised by anyone.
I really want to congratulate you for making me the first-ever Coach to win four games in a row at CHIPPA UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB and the first DStv Premiership Coach to win four games in a row for the season 2022/2023.
It can only take a genius person or special gifted person to take the decision you took by identifying my Coaching capabilities and appointing me as the Head Coach of your team.
I feel honoured for Coaching your team for the past fourteen (14) matches on which 5 wins, 4 draws, 5 losses and 17 goals scored and also takes the team to the last 16 Nedbank Cup 2022/2023 season.
The past two seasons (2020/2021, 2021/2022.) Chippa United have only managed to register 5 wins in 30 league matches with no single home win at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, but through your vision, this season the team have managed to win five in 14 matches with me as Head Coach and also two home win matches at Nelson Mandela Stadium after two years.
How can I forget the lifetime Coaching badges that you have paid for me, my CHAIRMAN?
I bow out of the team a happy man cause I have done my part for the success of the team.
