Royal AM Football Club President Shauwn Mkhize has finally brought multi-award-winning football coach Pitso Mosimane to her team. The former Sundowns trainer’s arrival was announced with a widely publicised video, causing confusion among South Africa’s football lovers.

In the video, the club chairman Andile Mpisane is seen welcoming him and his technical team to the Royal AM ranch.

Is Pitso Mosimane the new Royal AM coach?

Royal AM fans shouldn’t get too excited. At this point, it’s unclear what specific role Pitso will play on the Durban-based side. Royal AM’s announcement was not clear enough, but information from the coach’s representation indicates he is on a training tour and is not attached to Royal AM for the season.

MTSports, run by the gaffer’s wife, made the announcement on social media.

The day has arrived. We are proud to introduce The MasterClass Series with Coach Pitso Mosimane, Kabelo Rangoaga, Musi Matlaba, and Kyle Solomon. Comment who you think they are first beneficiary.

Currently unemployed after amicably partying ways with Egyptian side Al Ahly, Pitso and his team are touring the country and the region performing a footballing masterclass which is likely to involve training supervision and advisory. His agency has shared nothing more about the details of the services he provides during the masterclasses.

The multiple CAF Champions League winner is still raking in rands. His services are expensive as he is the most decorated coach in the country.

What’s next for Pitso?

Pitso left his job at Africa’s most successful club thanks to the criticism he received from Al Ahly legends for losing the CAF Champions league in Morocco. He and Al Ahly decided it was in both their best interests if they parted way as they both needed a breath of fresh air. Pitso said the club didn’t fire him but chose to leave as he thought it was the best decision.

Ever since he left, the eight-time African champions have been struggling, losing grip on the league to bitter rivals Zamalek.

Pitso has been linked to coaching roles in Iraq and Morocco. It is believed the Iraqi national team and Moroccan top flight side Wydad Casablanca inquired about the coach’s services, but he is not rushing to commit to his long-term future.
