‘Thwihli Thwahla’ ended their debut campaign in the DStv Premiership in third spot, after Orlando Pirates lost to SuperSport United on Monday evening.
As a consequence, Royal Am remained in third place ahead of Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs based on the better goal difference – something quite remarkable considering they only bought Bloemfontein Celtic a few days before the 2021/22 campaign kicked off.
MamKhize was visibly elated with the achievement and shared her own seasonal review, listing several proud moments, including winning the Innovation Quarter 3 award as well as John Maduka’s Coach of the Month accolade.
“The soccer season is finally over and we have a lot to be thankful for as a club,” she wrote on social media..
“As the president of the club I’m particularly proud of my team for achieving great results in our debut season in the PSL:
- Being awarded player of the month and a coach of the month in March.
- Having our top goal scorer representing us in our SA squad and finishing no2 on the psl goal scorers.
- Winning Q3 innovation for the clubs outstanding performance.
- Being nominated for coach of the season, most promising player of the tournament and footballer of the season.
- Finishing the season as position 3 on the log.
- Qualifying for top 8.
- Qualifying for the CONCAF …we are going to play in AFRICA.
“The Highlight of the season for me has to be our last 7 games where all our defense players were injured and we were only left with the evergreen CAPTAIN and we had to convert the defensive midfielder to become central defense and they came in and fought for the badge like soldiers.
“Royal AM words cannot begin to describe how proud I am of you, you have done extremely well and surpassed all expectations.
“Next season we are coming back bigger and stronger. I love you all bafana bam.”
