Royal AM boss Shauwn ‘Ma’ Mkhize has broken her silence on the return of former coach John Maduka.
The 52-year-old’s return to the club was confirmed by Thwihli Thwahla on Thursday morning after he had initially left ahead of the 2022/23 season before joining Maritzburg United.
However, his stint with the Team of Choice was short-lived, while Royal AM also struggled to repeat their success from last season, going through various technical changes after the addition and departure of Dan Malesela and Khabo Zondo, who’s now believed to be the Head of Development at the club.
Abram Nteo was left on the sidelines, but could only one of his six games as sole head coach. As a consequence, Royal AM brought back Maduka, who had guided the team into a surprise third place last season.
MaMkhize now took to social media to welcome back her former coach.
“There’s nothing more important than keeping your dressing room intact. You can lose everything in soccer but you must NEVER lose your change room,” she said in a cryptic statement.
“This is where you are meant to be Coach Maduka. It’s TIME to finish what we started…
“When I said it’s not how you fall that matters I meant it. It’s about how you pick yourself up that matters most.
“Welcome Home.”
Maduka’s first game in charge will be a KZN derby against Golden Arrows, who sit one position and one spot about Mkhize’s team, who have dropped into 12th on log.
