Mamelodi Sundowns’ October matches

Posted on October 12, 2025

It’s been a rollercoaster start for Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Coach Miguel Cardoso’s side top the division after nine matches, six wins, three draws, and a single defeat to Golden Arrows, yet their cup form has raised eyebrows.

Two shock eliminations, first in the MTN8 semifinal against Orlando Pirates and then in the Carling Knockout last-16 against Marumo Gallants, have created high pressure for the Portuguese coach.

Adding to the picture, Sundowns are still integrating their two high-profile Portuguese signings, Nuno Santos and Miguel Reisinho.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FIXTURES IN OCTOBER

Now, attention turns to October, and it will be packed with pressure.

Kabo Yellow begin with a CAF Champions League clash away to Remo Stars on Sunday, 19 October, at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

The West African journey will test Sundowns before the return leg a week later, on Sunday, 26 October, at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane.

Between the two continental games, their postponed Betway Premiership fixture against Sekhukhune United is expected to slot into the midweek calendar, setting up a demanding stretch of three matches in seven days.

WHO ARE REMO STARS?

Founded in 2004 by businessman Kunle Soname, Remo Stars’ story is a quick climb through Nigerian football. They reached the top flight in 2016, dropped back down, then stormed back in 2021 to become one of the Nigeria Professional Football League’s most consistent outfits.

Last season, they went a step further, winning their first-ever league title by a comfortable 10-point margin over Rivers United.
