Mamelodi Sundowns defender moving to KZN

Durban City fans will soon be seeing a familiar face on their left flank. Mamelodi Sundowns’ Mashego, once a Bafana Bafana regular and a star at Cape Town City, has agreed to join the KwaZulu-Natal side on loan after being told by Sundowns that he could look elsewhere for game time.

At 29, Mashego still has plenty to offer, but slipped down the pecking order against positional competitors like Aubrey Modiba, Devine Lunga and most recently Fawaaz Basadien.

The Mamelodi-born left-back made just 13 appearances last season, most of them in cup competitions, and started only seven.

TERRENCE MASHEGO TO LEAVE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FOR DURBAN CITY

“Durban City are set to sign Terrence Mashego from Mamelodi Sundowns on loan,” iDiski Times reported. “Mashego, 29, was informed by Sundowns he could leave on loan, with Siwelele initially mooted as a potential destination, but that interest later cooled off.

“Head Coach Gavin Hunt has been in the market to strengthen the left-back area in his squad, and the two parties have reached an agreement, with sources telling iDiski Times the paperwork is being finalised.

“Meanwhile, the former Bafana Bafana left-back has already started training with City,” the report added.

DO YOU THINK TERRENCE MASHEGO CAN STILL REVIVE HIS BAFANA BAFANA CAREER?
