Mama Joy Chauke backs Nigeria ahead of AFCON semi-final clash with Morocco

Popular South African sports fan and influencer Mama Joy Chauke has announced that she will be supporting Nigeria in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against host nation Morocco.

Taking to her X account on Wednesday, Chauke shared photos confirming that she had received a Nigerian jersey and match tickets ahead of the highly anticipated semi-final between Nigeria and Morocco.

“Thanks Nigeria for the jersey and the tickets. Semi final Nigeria vs Morocco,” she captioned the post.

Mama Joy’s decision comes after her home country, South Africa, was eliminated from the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Bafana Bafana exited the competition following a 2–1 defeat to Cameroon in the Round of 16.

While Chauke has long been known as a passionate supporter of South African football, her show of support for Nigeria has sparked debate online, with mixed views from social media users.
