SuperSport United have brought back midfielder Jabu Maluleke to be their set-piece coach.

Matsatsantsa CEO Stan Matthews said Maluleke has been with the club for two months after leaving Venda Football Academy at the end of the last season.

The 40-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best free kick takers and ball players in his generation, was part of the SuperSport side that won the league title under Gavin Hunt in the 2009/10 season, featuring in 28 matches and scoring four goals.

He was also at the club when the Tshwane giants won the Nedbank Cup in the 2011/12 season, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 at Orlando Stadium.

He then left the club in the second half of the 2013/14 season to join Polokwane City.

Maluleke joined SuperSport from Black Leopards ahead of the 2009/10 season when Hunt was in charge in his first stint, before the latter returning back to the club at the beginning of the season.

“I just brought in Jabu Maluleke to be set piece trainer,” said Matthews.

“He has been with us already two months and Daine Klate were two best set piece takers in our club that I have ever seen in my 23 years.

“So for me when we were looking for the set piece trainer, I chatted with Gavin and he was kind of like Jabu and we brought him back to the club as a set piece trainer.

“In the future, that could be a role for Bradley Grobler, a record goal scorer in our club, wonderful human being and good person.

“But you know we got six months still (to decide on Grobler), a lot of water to flow under the bridge, Bradley got six goals. If he scores another six goals, how can I let him go?

“Honestly, how can I let him go?”

Grobler’s contract, just like that of Thami Gabuza, will expire at the end of the season.

Maluleke, in five seasons with SuperSport, scored nine goals in 98 appearances.
