Malesela Unhappy With Irresponsible Display

Despite securing victory over Chippa United, Marumo Gallants coach Dan Malesela was not pleased with their irresponsible display in the DStv Premiership encounter at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday.

Gallants went behind early after the break, but eventually secured the comeback with two goals in the final 10 minutes to beat Chippa 3-2 thanks to a brace Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and Joseph Malongoane’s winner.

Malesela was however not entirely happy with the defensive display, saying there was no communication among his players in the five-goal thriller away from home.

“Look, one hell of a game, but we created problems for ourselves. I mean, we shouldn’t be where we are at, where the score is 3-2 or whatever,” Malesela said after the match.

“At first we should have just before they counted and scored, we really should have scored a goal, one of our players passed on the outside, and we are through to goals to score, now you create a corner-kick, and we are left with less than 15 minutes to the half and everybody pushes up for some crazy reason for what?

“And there’s no organisation, the goalkeeper doesn’t say anything, nobody says anything, and then we’re unable to catch up. We became our enemy with these goals that are scored because these goals count at the end of the day.

“But, be that as it may, the character cannot be faulted, the will to want to win you cannot fault anybody. I had a sense that they were tired as well, they were tired, though and yeah, it happened we did some good things right at the end and that’s what it should be.”

‘Dan Dance’ went on to express his elation after securing the vital three points that moved them into 11th, eight points off last-placed Baroka and five off Chippa, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.

“Very valuable points, very valuable points considering how long we have traveled to here, we wake up at four o’clock, five o’clock, we are out of Polokwane, and we arrived here in the afternoon.

“So it’s very valuable, everything is not a waste of time.”

Gallants will host the struggling Baroka on Wednesday in the Limpopo derby at the Peter Mokaba Stadium at 17h00.
