Veteran defender Lehlohonolo Nonyane has been brought in to train with Baroka FC in the hope of winning a contract, while Joseph Molangoane is also expected to arrive at the Limpopo-based club.

Nonyane, who played for Mpumalanga Black Aces, Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits, respectively, has already started training with Bakgaga this week.

Another player set to arrive at Baroka is former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs winger Molangoane.

Both players were released at the end of last season by Marumo Gallants, who were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship last term and could now reunite with Malesela.

Coach Malesela was recently appointed as Baroka FC coach, replacing Stanford Nkoane after Baroka could not win any of their first five matches.

Malesela, in two matches, has since picked up four points – drawing against Upington City and beating Venda FC, which was the club’s first win of the season and saw them move to 10th on the MFC table with seven points after seven games.

Baroka, who were relegated at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, have desires of coming back to the top flight football at the end of this season.

With Nonyane and Molangoane, Malesela reached the Nedbank Cup final with Gallants, where they lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2021/22 season.

However, these players won the same competition in the previous season, with Gallants beating Chippa United in the final under Dylan Kerr.

Meanwhile, Malesela is rumoured to be shaking things up in the player personnel, and could get rid of Katlego Molefe, Rebone Ntsoane, Papedi Ntsoane, Shepherd Mangoale, Lehlogonolo Melken, Tumi Masethe, Tsheamo Kekana and Kearabilwe Mphahlele.

Bennet Bobete, who was at Baroka before and was released by Nkoane, is set to come back at the club.
