Malesela Sends Warning To Jomo

Marumo Gallants coach Dan Malesela has sent a warning to Jomo Sono after his club Jomo Cosmos got relegated to the ABC Motsepe League.

Malesela shared some of his own ABC Motsepe League experiences when he was asked about Jomo Cosmos’ relegation to the third division after 39 years in pro-football.

Ezenkosi’s relegation got confirmed when they drew with TS Sporting last Sunday but Malesela believes Sono and his team can survive the “jungle” of the lower division.

“I saw Cosmos in Venda where they played TTM and I was sharing with Harris [Choeu] and I said ‘wow, how life changes and changes so quickly’,” Malesela told local media.

“I just remember this team that had this colourful players and all of that but things are not going well [now].

“To be honest, it’s sad. It’s sad to see a team that has produced so much. But it happens in life. I’m hopeful they will come back but it’s difficult and it’s gonna be very difficult.

“The ABC League is not a child’s play. You get a penalty, the foul is outside the box taken inside the box. There are no corner flags, the match is cancelled, they take the points. It’s difficult, it’s a jungle.

“I’ve been there so I know, sometimes they lock the stadium, they close the stadium as if there’s nobody and you think you are lost when you get to the stadium, saying ‘Ee Kanti where are we playing’ and you are looking there’s no movement, nothing.

“The next thing, these boys, the players are clever, they know these tricks. The next thing the players shout ‘eyibakhona ngaphakathi baya warm-up’ and that’s how it is, it’s not lies. This is our football.

“I’m hoping Bra J will survive this thing but he is a survivor, he will survive.“

Jomo Cosmos got relegated with two games still to be played. They will face Platinum City Rovers in Tsakane Stadium this weekend before traveling to Lucas Moripe Stadium to battle with Pretoria Callies for their final match of GladAfrica Championship.
