Malesela – I’m Grateful For Monde

Marumo Gallants praised the impact of substitute Monde Mphambaniso, who provided the assist in Gallants 1-0 win over Baroka to advance to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

While the scoreline was only 1-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, Gallants dominated the game and perhaps should wrapped it up earlier.

Malesela was pleased to progress but said he felt his team should have won by a bigger margin.

“Look, two things that I think our team must be careful of, is that when you look at faces, don’t underestimate them,” Malesela told the club’s media department.

“Because we were dominating, but we are not really playing with that oomph that we needed to play with.

“But as soon as we made changes, you know, and I’m grateful for Monde, I’m very thankful for him, you know, because he put up a good shift, created the goal that we scored, Junior did well to get in the box.

“And sometimes you have these things, particularly in knockout matches, where there’s a lot of tension and the players are worried about the next stage, instead of worrying about what is happening now.

“But having said that, we are very grateful. We are very, very, very grateful to have won the match.

“We are very grateful to have got into the next level, and all praise must go to the boys.

“Yes, with all our mistakes and whatever, we all make mistakes, the opponents make mistakes, but we are grateful to go to the next level.”
