New Royal AM Co-Coach Dan Malesela has explained how a passport blunder has seen him miss out on coaching the Bafana Bafana squad that recently played in the CHAN qualifiers.
It had been reported that Malesela would be part of Bafana’s technical team for the CHAN qualifiers, and he had been involved in selecting players at the recent ABC Motsepe Playoffs.
However the team was eventually led by Bafana assistant Helman Mkhalele, and in an exclusive interview with iDiski Times‘ David Kappel in the latest edition of the newspaper, Malesela explained what happened.
“Yes. I was supposed to do the CHAN but we had difficulties because the people at Marumo Gallants lost my passport,” Malesela told iDiski Times.
Malesela, though, also explained how the incident was perhaps meant to be, because had he been with the national team he might not have been able to meet Royal AM president Shauwn Mkhize about the co-coach job
“But you see, God works in mysterious ways. That, maybe the passport was a blessing,” he added.
“If it was not lost, I wouldn’t have been able to meet the President during the week because I’d be in Comoros (now).”
