After Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was expelled from her father’s uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema rallied behind her. The MK Party’s former national spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, was also relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

Malema took to his X account and shared a picture of Zuma-Sambudla wearing a T-shirt that read, “Try Me Boys. Julius 2026.”

He captioned the post, “Nothing new, you have seen it all and still emerged victorious. I won’t ask you to be strong because I know you are strong; you have been strong since you were a young girl, dealing with adult issues.”

The two controversial politicians have shown each other love and support in the past, with Zuma-Sambudla once writing about Malema, “They can never make me hate you.”

Why was Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla expelled?

According to TimesLive, MK Party’s secretary-general Sibonelo Nomvalo explained that there were repeated public statements and social media posts that have:

  • undermined organisational unity
  • promoted factional narratives
  • publicly discredited recognised party leadership structures
  • challenged the legitimacy of party decisions
  • brought internal organisational matters into the public domain

The above-mentioned publication adds that former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter was also accused of participating in and promoting activities outside officially sanctioned party programmes, which is said to have created confusion among party members and the organisation’s supporters.

“The president [Zuma] may determine and convene policy and consultative conferences to discuss issues and matters deemed important for the growth of the organisation,” said Nomvalo.
