Mako Suffers Serious Injury In Pirates, Baroka Stalemate

Baroka held Orlando Pirates to a 0-0 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to secure a vital point in their quest to avoid relegation from the DStv Premiership.

Pirates, who were mathematically ruled out of the title race prior to kickoff after Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed Golden Arrows 6-0 were aiming to get back into contention for a top-three place.

And despite a massive superiority in possession on the night, they only managed to muster one shot on target, while the hosts had three from their five shots at goal.

However, neither side looked like breaking the deadlock in Limpopo in a rather dire affair epitomised by the floodlight failure ten minutes from time that saw them off the pitch for around six minutes.

The game will undoubtedly be overshadowed by the last event in the game when Paseka Mako clashed into an onrushing Richard Ofori as his knee hit the player straight in the pace before he was seemingly knocked unconscious before being stabilised and straight into an ambulance which duly ended the game.

Pirates remain in fourth place, four points behind second-placed Royal AM while Bakgaga are one point from safety but still in 16th place.

Here’s how they lineup:

Baroka XI: Masuluke; Mphahlele, Makume (c), Farmer, Gebhardt, Mokhabi, Sithole, Kambala, Masiya, Ndhlovu, Bobete.

Pirates XI: Ofori; Shandu, Jele (c), Nyauza, Mako, Monare, Mosele, Ndlovu, Dlamini, Hotto, Mabasa.
