Mako opens up on ‘tough’ move from Pirates to Chiefs

Moving between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs is never an easy switch.

Such is the rivalry, that it’s almost unforgivable to switch allegiance for fans let alone players.

Over the years we’ve seen a handful of players making the brave move. And now, one such player has opened up about the experience.

Mako opens up on Orlando Pirates to Kaizer Chiefs transfer

Kaizer Chiefs sent shockwaves through the local football scene when they announced the arrival of Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane at the beginning of the season.

Both players signed for the Glamour Boys after being deemed surplus to requirements at rivals Orlando Pirates.

Now, Mako who made over 170 appearances for the Buccaneers, has opened up about his shock move.

“What I can say is that it was tough to leave the other side to come this side,” Mako said as quoted by IDiski Times regarding his move from Orlando Pirates.

“But now my focus is here at Kaizer Chiefs. I don’t want to look at the past so my main focus is to help this team to go forward and lift trophies.”

Mako focused on Amakhosi future

The 31-year-old full-back is hoping to use his experience to help Kaizer Chiefs win trophies.

Mako won six trophies during his time at Orlando Pirates FC. He tenacious defender joined the Buccaneers in 2018.

So far this season, Mako has made nine appearances for the Glamour Boys.
