Sekhukhune United head coach MacDonald Makhubedu has heaped praise on Justin Shonga after his goal on debut against Baroka.
Shonga scored his first official goal since 2020 when Sekhukhune beat the DStv Premiership log bottom-placed Baroka 4-0 at Ellis Park Stadium on Sunday and moved to sixth spot.
Makhubedu was full of praise for the Zambian international, who last played for Ismaily in Egypt before returning back to South Africa, saying they signed a great player.
“We couldn’t wait to get Shonga in January, we couldn’t wait, we knew he was going to score,” Makhubedu said on MLFM SABC Radio.
“He is a big boy, he is a good player, he is a Zambian fully international player, and he has been doing well for us since he arrived.
“Even at Ismaily, remember they didn’t let him go because he was bad, no, he scored a brace against Al Ahly, he is a good player, we didn’t get just any person from the street in him.
“Remember in Egypt is Al Ahly, Zamalek, Ismaily and Pyramid, so is one of the four, and he’s scored in all big games, so he continues what he has been doing in Egypt.”
