Mike Makaab, the agent of Sipho Mbule, has revealed the truth about Sipho Mbule’s links with Kaizer Chiefs.
Earlier on Friday, SuperSport United had confirmed they have agreed a permanent transfer with Mamelodi Sundowns for the 24-year-old.
Sundowns then confirmed that Mbule signed a three-year deal at Chloorkop and will join the club from 1 July.
“It was really brought to fore towards the end of last year. It wasn’t only Mamelodi Sundowns who we were speaking to, we were speaking to two other clubs at the same time,” Makaab said on GagasiFM, speaking to Simtho Dladla.
“We were speaking to in actual fact four clubs – three of them showed real interest. However, at that point in time SuperSport weren’t prepared to enter any serious talks as they felt they would need Sipho Mbule for the ballance of the season.
“As it turned out, it never worked out that way, we don’t need to get into it. Then things started to really becoming really serious in the last two months. From the four teams that started, there were two teams left in the race.
“I can honestly say, the only team that made an offer that SuperSport were asking for as transfer was Mamelodi Sundowns.”

When asked specifically about Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Mbule, Makaab confirmed that the Amakhosi were interested in the midfielder.
“Yes they were, and they did express their interest in Sipho,” he continued.
“You cannot blame Kaizer Chiefs or it’s management. People want to blame me. It would be easy for me to shift the blame to Kaizer Chiefs, but the truth of the matter is that you cannot shift the blame.
“Every single club has a limit to what they believe a player is worth. It happens all over the world. At the end of is all, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United agreed on a deal and Sipho Mbule was announced today.”
Makaab also confirmed that SuperSport activated a clause in Mbule’s contract in May, which then lead to SuperSport United and Sundowns having to agree on a transfer fee.
