  • Two separate truck accidents have disrupted traffic on the N1 in Limpopo.
  • The latest crash involving two trucks occurred on the N1 North before the tunnel on Saturday, with no fatalities reported.
  • Meanwhile, the N1 near Ga-Phasha remains closed following Friday’s tanker accident as authorities transfer the overturned load and divert motorists between Makhado and Polokwane.

The Department of Transport and Community Safety has confirmed that two separate truck accidents have disrupted traffic on the N1 in Limpopo.

The latest accident occurred on Saturday on the N1 North before the tunnel, where two trucks were involved in a crash.

Authorities say the accident was caused by following distance which resulted in a rear-end collision. No fatalities have been reported.

Traffic officers are currently on the scene managing the situation, and motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching the area.

Meanwhile, the N1 North near Ga-Phasha remains closed following an accident that occurred on Friday involving a tanker and a bus trailer.

The tanker overturned and operators have since sent a relief vehicle to transfer the load. The road has been closed for environmental safety while the transfer process continues.

Motorists travelling from Makhado to Polokwane and from Polokwane to Makhado are being diverted to the R36 before the tollgate. They can then join the R81 or use the D1356 Botlokwa road which will reconnect them to the N1.
