Orlando Pirates enter the Soweto Derby in better form than Kaizer Chiefs but captain Innocent Maela believes that form won’t count on Saturday.
Buccaneers have been on a good run lately, winning five of their last six games. The Sea Robbers had a near perfect start to the new year after finally scoring goals regularly.
But despite their good form in 2023 and Kaizer Chiefs’ poor run, the Amakhosi have won the last four Derbies, with Maela insisting form counts for nothing when the two giants meet.
“We’ve enjoyed a run of good form it is no secret, the preparations have been the same going to this match, our minds have been the same,” he said.
“We have a game plan that we practise and make sure that we execute it as best as we can on match day.
“Yhea, we’ve enjoyed a good run of form but we know that form does not play on Saturday in the Soweto Derby. We have to make sure that we execute the plan as best as we can.”
