Media personality Mthokozisi Cele,  popularly known as MaBlerh, recently shared a tribute to the late Akhumzi Jezile on what would have been his 37th birthday.

The TV host took to his X (formerly Twitter) to share a precious moment he shared with his friend, Akhumzi. “When I tell you that we never heard the end of this moment, I mean it. He went on a tour to our homes as his friends. He placed it on my coffee table and made me refer to him as “Safta award winner Akhumzi” the whole day.  Happy 37th birthday mnganami. You are missed,” he penned.

Akhumzi passed away on April 28, 2018 at the tender age of 29, after he was in a head-on collision that occurred on the N6 near Queenstown (now Komani), while he was traveling to attend his grandmother’s funeral.

The crash also claimed the lives of fellow entertainers Siyasanga Kobese and Thobani Mseleni, along with two other friends. Akhumzi was a prominent South African actor, television presenter, and producer. He first rose to fame as a child star on the SABC 1 youth program YoTV.

During his acting career, he won a (SAFTA) South African Film and Television Award in 2014 for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama for his role as Ngulube in Tempy Pushas.

X users weighed in:

Oh Akhumzi nkosi yami.

Everytime I open the Facetune app I think of him one morning after a taping of YoTV! saying, “soze B, Beyonce didn’t wake up like that!!” And he proceeded to download Facetune. Happy Birthday Khumzi 🎉🎉
