Striker Lyle Foster responded to his Bafana-Bafana call-up with a brace for KVC Westerlo in Saturday’s 6-0 whitewash of Oostende in the Belgian Pro League.

Foster had earlier in the week been named in Bafana Bafana’s squad to face Mozambique on November 17 and Angola three days later in friendlies.

LYLE FOSTER JUSTIFYING CALL-UP

The talented forward justified his national team inclusion with the goals, proving he is currently Bafana Bafana’s hope for goals.

Foster, who is among a number of South African players doing duty in Europe, scored in the 59th and 53rd minutes.

“The score was further extended to 4-0 in the 49th minute,” Westerlo website reports.

“This time it was Lyle Foster who managed to outsmart goalkeeper Phillips with a shot.

“The same Lyle Foster made it 5-0 a few minutes later. Again, he was given space to take a shot at goal and he kicked it without hesitation.”

The double made it eight goals in 16 outings for Westerlo across all competitions for Foster.

STEPS UP TO PLATE

The former Amajita star stepped up to the plate with the quickfire double after Westerlo had led 3-0 at break.

It took barely 16 minutes for Westerlo to score through Nene Dorgeles, Tuur Dierckx (28th minute) and Nacer Chadli’s 40th goal from the penalty spot.

Foster created the second goal as Dierckx slammed home from a rebound off the South African’s initial shot.

Thereafter, Foster seized the limelight with the double before Halli Abkanr put the icing on the cake with a sixth goal in the 81st minute.

The former Orlando Pirates striker was eventually substituted for Igor Votokele with 11 minutes to full-time.

The weekend’s games were the last in Belgium before the league goes on a World Cup break.

Westerlo are in sixth place with 23 points from 17 games, whereas as Oostende are 14th on 17 points.

KRC Genk lead the 18-member log table with 43 points.
