Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch has reacted to his Man of the Match display after scoring and assisting three in the 4-1 thrashing over Maritzburg United on Tuesday evening.
Pirates reacted to their CAF Confederation Cup final defeat in emphatic fashion at Orlando Stadium by dispatching the Team of Choice with Lorch central to their impressive display.
The South Africa international who produced a Man of the Match display despite missing the crucial penalty against RS Berkane in Uyo, Nigeria last Friday opened the scoring before teeing up Kwame Peprah, Deon Hotto and Kabelo Dlamini for their respective goals.
“First of all I want to thank the man above for the talent that he gave me and I promised that I will honour it you know,” Lorch told SuperSport TV after the game.
“It wasn’t an easy game, you could see the body was tired from the final but the most important thing is that we won the game, created a lot of chances and converted them.
“We need to push there’s nothing we can do, we need to push and get maximum points, which we got today, so the focus is the next game in KZN [against Royal AM] it’s going to be a tough game which we need to prepare well for.
“I knew that it was going to come and the coaches told me that I must keep dodging because their line is slow, their defence is slow so I knew I was going to get it [the goal].”
Three points for the Soweto giants mean they could snatch second place and qualify for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League if they collect maximum points against Royal AM and SuperSport United in their final two DStv Premiership fixtures.
