Thembinkosi Lorch has opened up losing the CAF Confederation Final after Orlando Pirates lost on penalties, with him missing the deciding spot-kick.

Lorch was called up to the South African national team for a first time under coach Hugo Broos and is part of the squad to face Morocco in this week’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Due to his recent positive exploits with Pirates, Broos brought Lorch back into the Bafana fold for a first time since 2019,

Head of Thursday’s game Lorch spoke about how he experienced the CAF Confed Cup final and how his experience can help the national side

“It wasn’t easy to play in Nigeria, because of the way it was hot. But we had to adapt to the situation,” Lorch told Bafana’s media team.

“For me, to score the equalising goal it gave me the confidence to say that we can win this one. Unfortunately we lost in the penalties, but it was a good game. We learned. I hope my experience will help the team.”

Lorch and co are set to take the Morocco in their backyard on June the 9th in Rabat.

The Pirates attacker, who has sevens caps for his country, could make his debut under the management of Broos.
