The Reds were 3-0 victors over bitter rivals Manchester United as they completed their pre-season tour of the USA in Columbia on Saturday.

In front of the near 80 000 in attendance, the biggest non-US football crowd at the Williams-Brice Stadium, Arne Slot’s men came out with some serious intent.

Fabio Carvalho capitalised on some poor defending from Casemiro to put Liverpool in front after just 10 minutes before Mohamed Salah set-up Curtis Jones for the second ten minutes before half-time.

The Reds were still without an array of first team players including goalkeeper Alisson Becker and captain Virgil van Dijk.

Andy Robertson’s absence, too, was made up for as Kostas Tsimikas got the third on the hour mark. The left back picked on a loose ball after an Andre Onana save sent the ball the way of the Greek international.

The perfect pre-season tour concluded for Slot as his side picked up three wins from three games. They will next face Sevilla at Anfield before beginning their Premier League campaign with a trip to Ipswich on 17 August.

For United, there is work to be done. Defeats to both Arsenal and Liverpool will send Erik Ten Hag back to the drawing board ahead of the new season curtain raiser that is the FA Community Shield encounter with Manchester City next weekend.
